    The PLC Technician assures all mechanical and electrical plant equipment is maintained and is in good operating condition to minimize downtime, optimize production, and facilitate smooth on-schedule quality production. The PLC Technician acts as the plant liaison to the Maintenance Manager to continuously improve manufacturing capacity, quality and efficiency.

    • Embrace & leverage technology to improve safety, throughput and reliability using automation, digital measuring, information transfer, robotics, software and sensing systems to support safety, growth & quality initiatives
    • Effectively team with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance Management to elevate overall facility performance – a key role in site maintenance.
    • Technical ownership of industrial IT and automation systems
    • Aids in startup and troubleshooting new processes
    • Establish and monitor plant-wide automation and PLC technical programs
    • Provides controls and electrical troubleshooting support for Maintenance and Production
    • Achieves financial objectives by establishing objectives; developing budgets; controlling costs, maximizing use of available assets in conjunction with the maintenance manager
    • Ensures efficient equipment operation/availability to meet equipment up-time OEE goals, and downtime goals for plant as established
    • Prioritizes jobs in order to meet production requirements and other department needs
    • Partners with Engineering, Operations and Maintenance Manager to execute installation of commissioning of capital equipment
    • Keeps abreast of emerging technology and industry practices
    • Work with Safety on all LOTO / SOP updates
    • Responsible for critical facility support equipment (boilers, heaters, air compressors, automated equipment, robots, etc.)
    • Work with Maintenance Mangaer on all specialized equipment testing and follow-up (vibration analysis, IR Thermo, air leaks, etc.)
    • Responsible to recommend plant technology initiative


    • Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
    • Excellent organizational skills, leadership qualities, computer literacy, and ability to supervise are essential for the candidate to perform successfully in this position
    • Competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access & MS Project
    • Works with integrity and respect displaying a high degree of tact and diplomacy
    • Must be familiar with various measuring devices and analyzing information
    • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams
    • Hands-on ability and willingness to troubleshoot and perform mechanics work
    • Electrical background and PLC experience required  (Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff experience highly desired)
    • Must have a demonstrated working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and controls aspect of factory automation systems and the integration of devices used
    • Formal training in PLC or PC controller programming (Rockwell Automation PLC-5, Motion Control, SLC-500, RS-Logix, SCADA)
    • AutoCAD knowledge strongly desired
    • Communicates and participates in meetings effectively
    • Behaves continuously and consistently with desired Masonite Blueprint values
    • Proceeds with bias toward action that delivers results
    • Identifies and resolves issues skillfully and in a timely manner
    • 2 year electrical degree
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field preferred
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing maintenance
    • Strong experience with and deep understanding of PLCs
    • Experience with interfacing to relational databases, information management and reporting applications
    • Kaizen and 5-S experience highly desired
    • Experience with maintenance management software including inventory, work-order system, and ERP
