Responsibilities

Manage Masonite’s Payroll function for US and Canada. Lead conversion from ADP to Workday payroll for Canada, creating process and operational efficiency improvements. 

 

  • Responsibility for the management of a complex payroll operation, within a multi-state, multi-country (US and Canada), high-volume payroll environment, ensuring accurate, timely and compliant payroll processing results, utilizing efficient payroll processes; responsible for approval readiness of the W-2s and T-4s
  • Assures the accuracy and integrity of all payroll data documentation, including policies and procedures; in-depth knowledge of and experience with payroll calculations and processes, along with accounting principles and practices relating to accruals, garnishments and taxes
  • Communicates procedural changes, system enhancements, reporting needs as required for payroll
  • Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple projects, including but not limited to mergers and acquisitions, system enhancements, and system upgrades
  • Analyze the effect and make recommendations related to proposed legislation, laws, regulations, union contract provisions, legal opinions, and legal decisions that impact the payroll process
  • Work closely with HR/Compensation ensure all stock and ESPP transactions are being recorded accurately and timely in the payroll system and taxes are appropriately funded and remitted
  • Create Business Continuity Plan for Payroll; ensure staff cross-training and documented SOPs

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree; Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
  • 7-10+ years’ in multi-site payroll operations (more than 3000 EEs)
  • Current knowledge of Federal, State and Province (CAN) regulations
  • 3-5+ years’ experience managing payroll team (3+ staff) 
  • Experience with Workday and Kronos strongly preferred
  • Canadian payroll experience strongly preferred (particularly Quebec)
  • Results-oriented, proactive, independent and capable of working in a collaborative manner across functions & geographies
  • Advanced analytical and diagnostic skills; ability to synthesize situations and develop creative solutions
  • Strong interpersonal & communications skills; high integrity and diplomacy
  • Strong MS Office Suite skills, particularly Excel
  • Experience with payroll system/vendor conversions strongly preferred
