The Director of Manufacturing Engineering will be responsible for all capital projects, product change and creation management for the Masonite Architectural business. The Director will be responsible for creating the controls and processes necessary for product launch in the manufacturing plants, for maintaining and managing changes to the BOM for materials and processes and implementing best practices across the enterprise. The process engineering function will be integral in the upkeep and maintenance of the items, routes, BOM and process development for the MA businesses. This position strategically identifies waste in business processes, formulates project plans to minimize and eliminate the waste, and manages the implementation process across affected functional areas.  The capital management function will manages the Capital Planning and Spend Process, Business Integration Process, Lean Sigma program development and Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering functions.  Primarily responsible for identifying process and manufacturing improvements across value streams, business functions, and supply chains.  The Director will have to work directly with Maintenance teams develop and maintain a division wide maintenance program.  


The position will report to the Vice President of Operations, Masonite Architectural and will provide service to six manufacturing facilities.  Reporting to this position are continuous improvement project managers & process engineers.  In addition, the position will coordinate closely with Product Development Engineers from the Masonite Innovation Center.



  • Responsible for developing objectives for process enhancement and technology advancement.
  • Leads facilities in technical project implementation to improve operations and advance manufacturing competence.
  • Identifies, recommends, and manages the implementation of new and upgraded manufacturing technology in an effort to continually improve our manufacturing techniques.
  • Leads and coordinates plant and corporate efforts to drive variable and fixed cost improvements. Facilitates projects in the areas of:
    • Setup Reduction Visual Management and measured improvement programs.
    • Plant layout and product flow to achieve lean manufacturing models OEE improvements, generating labor benefits.
    • New process introduction.
  • Works with the product design group to assure functional and effective purchase and/or manufacture at the lowest possible overall cost.
  • Manages the Process Engineering Manager to support product configuration, engineering change, item code maintenance in the configurator and develop the manager to perform as an effective leader in the MADS organization.
  • Trains, leads and tutors Lean Sigma resources to drive process improvement.
  • Prepares analysis of production efficiencies against standard costs and works with the plant engineering staffs to improve efficiencies in underperforming operations. Organizes and leads projects centered on productivity improvements in the process.
  • Provides continuous analysis of plant operations and develops reporting routines to identify areas for improvement. Implements change to increase performance over measured baselines.
  • Work with the Maintenance teams at each plant to maintain a robust division wide reliability/maintenance program to increase the overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Provides leadership and support to the manufacturing plants regarding the evaluation and use of process control methods. Defines variables and outlines plans to reduce process variance to improve material and labor efficiencies.



  • Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Management.
  • Advanced Degree in Engineering or Business Preferred.
  • Green Belt in Lean Sigma Required,
  • Black Belt in Lean Sigma preferred.
  • Project Management Certification – Required.


  • 10 years in a Plant or Staff Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering position.
  • Previous Managerial Experience in a Multi Plant Environment required.
  • Experience in maintenance programs a must.
  • CI leadership role in multi plant environment desired.


  • Self driven, accountable, high integrity, open communicator, strong work ethic & strong time management skills.​
  • Adept at handle various issues simultaneously and prioritize.
  • ​Strong organizational skills.​Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, project management, and database management
  • Strong analysis skills are required.
  • Green or Black Belt preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of lean manufacturing systems required
