Responsibilities

The Architectural Division Quality Manager will lead the Quality and Continuous Improvement initiatives across 7 plant locations in North America. The focus of the position will be in implementing the Masonite Quality Management System and implementing a new ERP system with significantly improved quality system functionality. The position will work hand in hand with the Division Leaders in Manufacturing Engineering, Operations and Sourcing to achieve the annual Operating Plan.

Job Purpose:

  • Establish a multi-year Quality Road Map identifying the steps to significantly improve Quality performance over the next 3 years and accountable for delivery against this Road Map.
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and continually improve a Quality Management Systems to ensure that customer’s quality expectations are satisfied 100% of the time.
  • Leverage Masonite’s Lean Management System (MVantage) to drive significant year-over-year improvements in Cost of Produced Quality.
  • Develop the talent base of plant and division quality resources.
  • Drive a common quality culture across the Division.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Implementation of the Quality Management System at the Division level.
  • Product and Process qualifications
  • Process Improvement and Built-in-quality guidelines
  • Audits and Document control
  • Measurement systems, Traceability and accountability.
  • Supplier quality
  • Role of quality resources
  • Other required elements of a contemporary and effective quality system
  • Identify and implement corrective actions for any identified gaps.
  • Identify and prioritize needs for Process Characterization and Control, Specification and other elements to drive Process Capability
  • Ensure the Division has accurate and sufficient documentation on customer expectations and are satisfying these requirements 100% of the time. Identify and implement corrective actions for any identified gaps.
  • Ensure all plants are using an effective Process Change management system with an appropriate level of customer interface.  Identify and implement corrective actions for any identified gaps.
  • Ensure all plants have an effective Corrective Action Request program. Identify and implement corrective actions for any identified gaps.
  • Co-Accountable for achieving Cost of Quality reductions as planned in the Annual Operating Plan.  Responsible for developing and implementing gap closure plans for any shortfalls.
  • Responsible for incorporating Quality Management System improvements and Cost of Quality improvements into the Annual Operating Plan during the AOP development.

 

Qualifications

Education

  • BS degree in a technical field, Engineering or equivalent
  • Preferred ASQ quality certifications (CQE/CQM/CQT)
  • Green Belt or higher Lean or Six Sigma experience; Black Belt preferred
     

Experience

  • 5 years minimum leadership experience in the quality field, multi-plant experience preferred
  • Experience operating an ISO9000/TS based or equivalent quality system
  • Clear performance record of reducing Cost of Produced Quality
  • Demonstrated experience in developing/building talent capability for both hourly and salaried personnel
     

Competencies

  • Strong communication skills including public speaking and presentations
  • Strong facilitation skills in US and non-US work environments
  • Formal problem solving experience (such as Lean Sigma) with a good working knowledge on when to use the appropriate tools and how to use them
  • Ability to oversee a large deck of improvement projects concurrently
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications and MRP systems
  • Ability to lead rapid change
