Responsibilities

The ElectricaI Technician performs all types of electrical and instrumentation wrok in the plant which is required to keep the plant running at a maximum efficiency.  The E&I Technician will report to the Maintenance Supervisor, but will be able to work well on his/her own.

  • Works with or assists other trades people, engineering, production and other technical resources (internal and external to Masonite) to minimize down time and optimize the mill equipment.
  • Have a working knowledge of Maximo to submit work orders and work with the Planner/Scheduler to estimate, order parts, and develop a Job Plan for the scheduled maintenance.
  • Communicates with production personnel information specific to equipment problems, required repairs, down time eastimates and concerns or corrective actions of the machine operations.
  • Works safety in a mill environment and notifies appropriate person of unsafe practices or conditions and follows up to ensure appropriate actions are taken.
  • Works wtih Store Room Coordinator to correctly identify and obtain parts needed to repair or maintain plant equipment.
  • Be able to troubleshoot, identify failed components and repair and calibrate electrical process equipment.  
  • Performs repetitive preventative maintenance functions in order to improve machine output and performance.
  • Documents modifications and repairs made to equipment and makes information about equipment available for others to use.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Participate and be an active member in the ST Certification Process and adapt to existing policy and by-laws of the ST Operation

Qualifications

  • 2 year Associates Degree in Electronics, Instrumentation, Process Control or equivalent.  
  • Knowledge of the NEC, NFPA-70E and safe work practices
  • Card carrying Journeyman E&I Tech accepted
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical concepts
  • Working knowledge of power supplies, oscilloscopes, VOM meters, signal generators, process meters and other test equipment
  • Rockwell software--RS Logics 5000/500/5, RS Links, FactoryTalk, Drive executive, Siemens Moore controllers, Auto Cad, steam, Hydraulic and Lneumatic Systems
  • Excellent trouble shooting skills
  • Ability to read, interpret and update electrical prints and documents
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations
  • Able to climb and use ladders, carry or maneuver 50+ pounds
  • Able to maneuver in confined spaces; twist, bend, stoop, or stand for long periods of time
  • Able to have manual dexterity and excellent hand-eye coordination
