Masonite is looking for a user experience / user interface designer to join a high performance team that will help provide an unparalleled digital customer experience. This person will translate vision into a dynamic user interface by converting conceptual understanding into an intuitive visual interface in a fast-paced, innovative, collaborative development environment.

  • Converting design concepts into visual design comparables using Sketch.  
  • Paired programming with other software developers to implement designs.
  • Review existing design and learn the current design software being used, Sketch and Zeplin.
  • Modify existing designs as necessary for software enhancement and create new designs for new features to be delivered. 
  • Design digital commerce portals and other systems that allow Masonite to provide product to all channels. 
  • Providing both analytical as well as highly creative design ideas to a product development engagement.  
  • Directly collaborating on user experience planning with product architect and developers
  • Act as advocate and evangelist for design within product team, from a platform of competence and humility.
  • Reliably delivering interaction and visual design as a key contributor to a multi-disciplinary team
  • Researching interaction design and technology trends
  • Consulting and collaborating with clients and team members


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in interaction design, new media design or related design field
  • Four (4) plus years of user experience/interface design experience for software, Web applications which leverage emergent technologies, consumer electronics and/or mobile devices
  • Strong working knowledge of Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Fireworks and associated design tools
  • Ability to create wireframes as well as visual design comps
  • Experience with user interface design patterns and standard UCD methodologies
  • Strong conceptualization ability, strong visual communication ability, drawing skills and sketchbook technique
  • Strong working knowledge of HTML, CSS, Rails, JavaScript/JQuery, ObjectiveC (iOS), C++ (Android) a plus 
  • Understanding of Agile software development and project management practices
  • Understanding of contemporary user-centered design methodologies.
  • Strong problem solving skills and independent self-direction, coupled with an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication.
